Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Dep ress the brake pedal.
11. Shut OFF the engine.
12. Turn the ignition switch to the unlocked OFF posi-
tion.
Shift the transm ission to “N” (Neutral) (autom atic
transm ission), or depress the clutch pedal (manu al trans-
mission).
13. Shift the transm ission into “P” (Park) (autom atic
transm ission), or shift into 4th gear (manu al transm is-
sion).

Use the point of a ballp oint pen or similar object to
depress the recessed transfer case Neutral (N) button for
second s. After the shift is complete, and the Neutral (N)
light turns on, release the Neutral (N) button.
14. Attach the vehicle to a tow vehicle with a tow bar.

Disconnect the battery negative cable.

Shift the autom atic transm ission into “R” (Reverse).

depressing the Neutral (N) selection button or while
the shift attem pt is in process, then the Neutral (N)
ind icator light will flash continu ously until all requ ire-
ments are met or until the Neutral (N) button is
released .
Release the brake pedal for five second s and ensu re
that there is no vehicle movem ent.
10.
Repeat Steps 8 and 9 with the transm ission in “D”
(Drive) (autom atic transm ission) or 1st gear (manu al
transm ission).
