This featu re can be turned on or turned off. To change the
current setting, proceed as follow s:
WARN ING!

If you use a trailer brak e controller with you r
trailer, the trailer brak es may be activated and
deactivated with the brak e switch . If so, there may
not be enough brak e pressu re to hold both the
veh icle and the trailer on a hill when the brak e
pedal is released . In ord er to avoid rollin g down
an inclin e while resu ming acceleration , manually
activate the trailer brak e or apply more veh icle
brak e pressu re prior to releasin g the brak e pedal.

For vehicles equ ipped with the Electronic Vehicle
Inform ation Center (EVIC), refer to “Hill Start Assist,”
und er ЉPersonal Settings (Custom er Program mable
Featu res),” und er “Electronic Vehicle Inform ation
Center (EVIC)” in Section 4 of this manu al.
For vehicles not equ ipped with the EVIC, perform the 5
follow ing step s:

NOTE: You must complete Steps 1 throu gh 8 within 90
second s.

HSA is not a park ing brak e. Alw ays apply the
park ing brak e fully when leavin g you r veh icle.
Also, be certain to leave an autom atic tran smission
in “P” (Park ) or a manual tran smission in “R”
(Reverse) or 1st gear.

Shift the transm ission into “P” (Park) (autom atic
