Fast spinning tires can be dangerou s. Forces gen er-
ated by excessive wheel speed s may cause tire dam-
age or failu re. A tire could explod e and injure som e-
one. Do not spin you r veh icle’s wheels faster than 35
mph (55 km/h) when you are stu ck, and do not let
anyon e near a spinning wheel no matter what the
speed .

Tread Wear Indicators
These ind icators are molded into the bottom of the tread
grooves. They will appear as band s when the tread depth
becom es 1/ 16 inch (2 mm). When the ind icators appear
in 2 or more adjacent grooves, the tire shou ld be rep laced .
Tread wear ind icators are in the original equ ipment tires
to help you in determ ining when you r tires shou ld be
rep laced .
Many states have law s requ iring tire rep lacem ent at this
point.
