THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE
The Security Alarm System is designed to protect you r
vehicle; how ever, you can create cond itions where the
system will give you a false alarm . If the previou sly
described arm ing sequ ence has occurred , the system will
arm regard less of whether you are insid e or outsid e the
vehicle. If you rem ain insid e the vehicle and open a door,
the alarm will sou nd . If this occurs, disarm the system .

tures),” und er “Electronic Vehicle Inform ation Center
(EVIC)” in Section 4 of this manu al.
The interior lights will fade to off after abou t 30 second s
or they will immediately fade to off once the ignition
switch is turned on.
NOTE:
Tamper Alert
•
The illuminated entry system will not operate the
interior lights if the dimmer control is in the “defeat”
position (extrem e downw ard position).
If som ething has triggered the alarm in you r absence, the
horn will sou nd three times when you unlock the doors.
Check the vehicle for tam pering.
REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY
ILLUMINATED ENTRY SYSTEM
This system allow s you to lock or unlock the doors and
liftgate, open the liftgate flip-up wind ow, or activate the
panic alarm from distances up to 23 feet (7 meters) using
a hand held rad io transm itter. The transm itter need not
be pointed at the vehicle to activate the system . However,
the line of transm ission must not be blocked with metal
objects when using the transm itter.
The interior lights will turn on when you use the Remote
Keyless Entry (RKE) transm itter or open a door.
This featu re also turns on the approach lighting (if so
equ ipped). For details, refer to “Illu mination Approach,”
