Gross Vehicle Weigh t Ratin g (GVWR)
Each axle GAWR is determ ined by the components in the
system with the lowest load carrying capacity (axle,
springs, tires, or wheels). Heavier axles or suspension
components som etim es specified by purchasers for in-
creased durability does not necessarily increase the vehi-
cle’s GVWR.
The GVWR is the total perm issible weight of you r vehicle
inclu ding driver, passengers, vehicle, options, trailer
tongu e weight, and cargo. The label also specifies maxi-
mum capacities of front and rear axle system s (GAWR).
Total load must be limited , so GVWR, and front and rear
GAWR are not exceed ed.
Tire Size
Payload
The tire size on the Label rep resents the actu al tire size on
you r vehicle. Replacem ent tires must be equ al to the load
capacity of this tire size.
The payload of a vehicle is defined as the allow able load
weight a tru ck can carry, inclu ding the weight of the
driver, all passengers, options and cargo.
Rim Size
Gross Axle Weigh t Ratin g (GAWR)
This is the rim size that is approp riate for the tire size
listed .
The GAWR is the maxim um perm issible load on the front
and rear axles. The load must be distribu ted in the cargo
area so that the GAWR of each axle is not exceed ed.
Inflation Pressu re
This is the cold tire inflation pressu re for you r vehicle for
all load ing cond itions up to full GAWR.
