In unu sual situ ations involving grossly malfunctioning
engine operation, a scorching odor may suggest severe
and abnorm al catalyst overheating. If this occurs, safely
bring the vehicle to a complete stop , turn off the engine,
and allow it to cool. Service, inclu ding a tune up to
manu factu rer’s specifications, shou ld be obtained imme-
diately.
NOTE: Intentional tam pering with emissions control
system s can resu lt in civil penalties being assessed
against you .
