Engine Oil
Checking Oil Level
To assu re prop er engine lubrication, the engine oil must
be maintained at the correct level.
The best time to check the engine oil level is abou t 5
minu tes after a fully warm ed up engine is shu t off or
before starting the engine after it has sat overnight.
Checking the oil while the vehicle is on level grou nd will
improve the accuracy of the oil level read ings. Alw ays
maintain the oil level within the SAFE zone on the
dipstick. Adding one quart of oil when the read ing is at
the bottom of the SAFE zone will resu lt in a read ing at the
top of the safe zone on these engines.

Do not overfill the engin e. Overfillin g the engin e
will cause oil aeration , which can lead to loss of oil
pressu re and an increase in oil tem peratu re. This
could damage you r engin e. Also, be sure the oil fill
cap is rep laced and tigh ten ed after adding oil.
