Torque Con verter Clu tch
A featu re designed to improve fuel econom y has been
added to the autom atic transm ission of this vehicle. A
clutch within the torqu e converter engages autom atically
at calibrated speed s. This may resu lt in a slightly differ-
ent feeling or resp onse during norm al operation in high
gear. When the vehicle speed drop s or during accelera-
tion, the clutch autom atically and smoothly disengages.
Transmission Limp Home Mode

The transm ission is monitored for abnorm al cond itions.
If a cond ition is detected that could cause damage, the
transm ission shifts autom atically into second gear if the
vehicle speed is approp riate. If not, it will wait until the
cond itions are approp riate and then it will shift into
second gear. The transm ission will then rem ain in second
gear despite the forw ard gear selected . “P” (Park), “R”
(Reverse), and “N” (Neutral) will continu e to operate.
Tow/Haul Button
The “TOW/ HAUL Ind icator Light” will illuminate in the
instru ment cluster to ind icate when the switch has been
activated . Pressing the switch a second time restores
norm al operation. If the “TOW/ HAUL” mode is desired ,
the switch must be pressed each time the engine is
started .
