With the ignition switch in the ON position and the
original position, make certain all shift requ irem ents
have been met, wait five (5) second s, and try the shift
again.

“N” (Neutral) (autom atic transm ission), or depress the
clutch pedal (manu al transm ission).

The ignition switch must be in the ON position for a
shift to take place and for the position ind icator lights
to be operable. If the ignition switch is not in the ON
position, then the shift will not take place, and no
position ind icator lights will be on or flashing.

Move the 4WD Control Switch to the desired position.

After the desired position ind icator light is ON (not
flashing), shift the transm ission into gear (autom atic
transm ission), or release the clutch pedal (manu al trans-
mission).

ON-ROAD DRIVING TIPS
Utility vehicles have higher grou nd clearance and a
narrow er track to make them capable of perform ing in a
wide variety of off-road applications. Specific design
characteristics give them a higher center of gravity than
ord inary cars.
NOTE:

Steps 1 and 2 in the “Preferred Proced ure” and the
“Alternate Proced ure” are requ irem ents for shifting
the transfer case. If these requ irem ents are not met
prior to attem pting the shift or while the shift attem pt
is in process, then the ind icator light will flash, and the
current transfer case position will be maintained . To
