These cautions apply to all chain traction devices, inclu d-
ing link and cable (rad ial) chains.
Follow the “Maintenance Sched ule” in Section 8 of this
manu al for the recom mend ed tire rotation frequ ency.
Remember, more frequ ent rotation is perm issible if de-
sired . Also, correct for anything causing rap id or unu sual
wear prior to perform ing the tire rotation.
TIRE ROTATION RECOMMENDATIONS
Tires on the front and rear axles of vehicles operate at
different load s and perform different steering, hand ling,
and braking functions. For these reasons, they wear at
unequ al rates, and develop irregu lar wear patterns.
The suggested rotation method is the “forw ard -cross”
show n in the follow ing diagram .
These effects can be red uced by timely rotation of tires.
The benefits of rotation are especially worthw hile with
aggressive tread designs such as those on On/ Off Road
typ e tires. Rotation will increase tread life, help to main-
tain mud, snow, and wet traction levels, and contribu te to
a smooth, quiet rid e.
