may decrease corrosion protection . If a non-HOAT
coolan t is introd uced into the coolin g system in an
emergen cy, it should be rep laced with the speci-
fied coolan t as soon as possib le.
Coolin g System — Drain , Flush, and Refill
The system shou ld be drained , flushed , and refilled at the
intervals show n in the “Maintenance Sched ule” in Sec-
tion 8 of this manu al.

Do not use plain water alon e or alcoh ol-b ase
engin e coolan t (antifreeze) prod ucts. Do not use
addition al rust inhibitors or antiru st prod ucts, as
they may not be compatib le with the rad iator
engin e coolan t and may plug the rad iator.
If the solu tion is dirty or contains a consid erable amount
of sed iment, clean and flush with a reliable cooling
system cleaner. Follow with a thorou gh rinsing to rem ove
all deposits and chem icals. Prop erly dispose of old
antifreeze solu tion.

Prop ylen e Glycol based coolan ts. Use of Prop y-
len e Glycol based coolan ts is not recom mended.
Selection of Coolan t
Use only the manu factu rer’s recom mend ed coolant. Re-
fer to “Fluids, Lubricants, and Genu ine Parts” in this
section for the correct fluid typ e.
