STARTING AND OPERATING
high speed s can cause damage and immediate service is
requ ired . Poor quality gasoline can cause problem s such
as hard starting, stalling, and hesitations. If you experi-
ence these sym ptom s, try another brand of gasoline
before consid ering service for the vehicle.
The manu factu rer supports the use of reform ulated gaso-
lines. Prop erly blend ed reform ulated gasolines will pro-
vid e excellent perform ance and durability of engine and
fuel system components.
Gasoline/Oxygenate Blends
Over 40 auto manu factu rers world wide have issu ed and
end orsed consistent gasoline specifications (the World -
wide Fuel Charter, WWFC) which define fuel prop erties
necessary to deliver enhanced emissions, perform ance,
and durability for you r vehicle. The manu factu rer recom -
mend s the use of gasoline that meets the WWFC speci-
fications if they are available.
Some fuel suppliers blend unlead ed gasoline with oxy-
genates such as 10% ethanol, MTBE, and ETBE. Oxygen-
ates are requ ired in som e areas of the country during the
winter months to red uce carbon monoxid e emissions.
Fuels blend ed with these oxygenates may be used in
you r vehicle.
CAUTIO N!
Reformulated Gasoline
Many areas of the country requ ire the use of cleaner
burning gasoline referred to as “Reform ulated Gasoline.”
Reform ulated gasolines contain oxygenates, and are spe-
cifically blend ed to red uce vehicle emissions and im-
prove air quality.
DO NOT use gasolin es contain ing Meth anol or E85
Ethanol. Use of these blen ds may resu lt in startin g
and driveab ility prob lem s and may damage critical
fuel system components.
