accelerator and apply as little throttle as possible. Be sure
to adapt you r speed and driving to the prevailing road
cond itions.
Dep end ing upon model and mode of operation, the ESP
system has up to three operating modes: “ESP On”
“Partial Off,” and “Full Off.”
ESP On — 2WD Vehicles & 4WD Vehicles in 2WD &
4WD High Range
WARN ING!
This is the norm al operating mode for ESP when operat-
ing a 2WD vehicle. It is also the norm al mode for
operating a 4WD vehicle in 2WD or 4WD high range. The
ESP system will be in “ESP On” mode whenever the 5
vehicle is started or the transfer case (if equ ipped) is
shifted out of 4WD low range. This mode shou ld be used
for most driving situ ations. ESP shou ld only be turned to
“Partial Off” or “Full Off” for specific reasons as noted .
Refer to “Partial Off” and to “Full Off” for additional
inform ation.
ESP (Electron ic Stab ility Program ) cannot preven t the
natu ral law s of physics from actin g on the veh icle,
nor can it increase the traction afford ed by prevailin g
road condition s. ESP cannot preven t accid ents, in-
cluding those resu ltin g from excessive speed in
turns, drivin g on very slip pery surfaces, or hydro-
plan ing. Only a safe, atten tive, and skillfu l driver can
preven t accid ents. The capabilities of an
ESP-
equipped veh icle must never be exploited in a reck -
less or dangerou s manner, which could jeop ard ize
the user’s safety or the safety of oth ers.
