This transfer case is intend ed to be driven in the 2-wheel
drive position (2WD) for norm al street and highw ay
cond itions such as dry hard surfaced road s.
4-wheel drive high range.
Neutral.
CAUTIO N!
Failu re to follow the recom mended downshiftin g
speed s may cause the engin e to over speed and/or
damage the clutch disc even if the clutch pedal is
depressed .
4-wheel drive low range.
When additional traction is requ ired , select the transfer
case 4WD Lock position or 4WD Low position. This
position locks the front driveshaft and rear driveshaft
together and forces the front and rear wheels to rotate at
the sam e speed .

The Com mand -Trac transfer case provid es four posi-
tions:
Use the transfer case Neutral (N) position for recreational
tow ing only. Refer to “Recreational Towing” in this
section for specific proced ures on shifting into and out of
Neutral (N).
