When hau ling cargo, or tow ing a trailer, do not
overload you r vehicle or trailer. Overload ing can cause
a loss of control, poor perform ance, or damage to
brakes, axle, engine, transm ission, steering, suspen-
sion, chassis stru cture, or tires.

Safety chains must alw ays be used betw een you r
vehicle and trailer. Alw ays connect the chains to the
fram e or hook retainers of the vehicle hitch. Cross the
chains und er the trailer tongu e and allow enou gh
slack for turning corners.

achieve the 10% to 15% range of tongu e weight as a
percentage of total trailer weight).
Vehicles with trailers shou ld not be parked on a grad e.
When parking, apply the parking brake on the tow
vehicle. Put the tow vehicle autom atic transm ission in
“P” (Park). With a manu al transm ission, shift the
transm ission into “R” (Reverse). Alw ays, block or
ЉchockЉ the trailer wheels.
Towing Req uirem ents — Tires
− Do not attem pt to tow a trailer while using a compact
spare tire.
