NOTE: When drivin g uphill, esp ecially with a
heavy load , you may notice you r speed
decreasin g even if you have the cruise
control set. If the speed drop s more
than 8 to 14 mph (13-23 km/h) it is
norm al for the autom atic cruise control
featu re to be cancelled . You may need
to use the accelerator pedal to help
you r veh icle main tain the selected
speed when drivin g up steep grad es.
Resettin g the Cru ise Con trol
To reset the cru ise control to a low er speed , use
one of the follow ing proced ures:

COAST — Press and hold the COAST switch.
Release the switch when the vehicle slow s
dow n to the desired speed .

Lightly tap the brake pedal. When the vehicle
attains the desired speed , press the SET
ACCEL switch and release it immediately.
❑
TAP-D OWN — Press and then qu ickly
release the COAST switch. Each tim e you
“tap ” the switch, the set speed will decrease
by 1 mph (1.6 km / h). Mu ltip le tap s will
cau se the set speed to decrease in increm ents
of 1 mph (1.6 km / h). For exam ple, if the
current set speed is 60 mph (96 km / h) 5 tap s
of the COAST switch will decrease the
vehicle speed and SET it at 55 mph
(88
km / h).
If vehicle speed is red uced below 30 mph
(50
km / h) by any of the above method s, then
you must manu ally accelerate to a speed over
mph (50 km / h) and reset the system .
