Adding Autom atic Tran saxle Fluid
Before ad ding any fluid, be sure that the correct
typ e will be used . Correct typ e is show n on the
dipstick.
Ad d fluid in 1/ 2 pint (.25L) increm ents throu gh
the filler tu be to bring the level within the
crosshatched area on the dipstick. If the level is
above the top hole on the dipstick, excess fluid
shou ld be rem oved by a qu alified technician.
NOTE: Alw ays disp ose of used autom otive
flu ids in a resp onsib le manner. Follow
you r community’s stan dard s for
disp osin g of these typ es of flu ids. Call
you r local recyclin g center to fin d out
about recyclin g autom otive flu ids.
Brak e Fluid
Und er norm al circu mstances, you r vehicle
shou ld not use up brake fluid rap idly. How ever,
exp ect the level of the brake fluid to slow ly fall
as you put more mileage on you r vehicle and
the brake lining wears.
You shou ld check the brake fluid at every
sched uled engine oil change, bu t be sure to
check it at least once a year. You can do this by
looking at the fluid level in the plastic reservoir
on the master cylind er. (See The Engine Types in
this chap ter to locate the master cylind er.) The
fluid level shou ld be at or near the MAX mark.
