The parking brake is not designed to stop a
moving vehicle, bu t you can use the parking
brake to stop you r vehicle in an emergency if
the norm al brakes fail. How ever, since the
parking brake ap plies only the rear brakes, the
stop ping distance will increase greatly and the
hand ling of you r vehicle will be ad versely
affected .
Alw ays check the Brake Warning Light each
tim e you start you r engine. Driving with the
parking brake on will cau se the brakes to wear
out qu ickly and will red uce the fuel econom y.

Tip s for Safe Drivin g
As with any new vehicle, you rs may drive and
hand le differently from you r previou s vehicle.
Use care until you becom e accu stom ed to its
variou s featu res and driving characteristics.
Op erate you r vehicle within reasonable limits.
Sudden acceleration, deceleration, tu rning, or
combinations of these maneu vers can cau se a
vehicle to behave differently than anticip ated .
Drivin g in Bad Weath er
Slippery roa ds
On som e slip pery road surfaces, front-w heel
drive may provid e better acceleration than
rear-w heel drive. How ever, this does not mean
that you r vehicle can stop any faster or any
better than a vehicle with rear-w heel drive.
Exercise the sam e cau tion while driving on
slip pery road s with you r front-w heel drive
vehicle as you would with a rear-w heel drive
vehicle.
