Lubricate tru nk lid or wagon liftgate hinges
with a light grad e oil. (Do not lubricate hood
and door hinges.)
❑Cover interior soft trim to prevent fad ing.

Keep all ru bber parts free from oil and
solvents.
Engine

Start engine every 15 days. Run at fast idle
until it reaches norm al operating tem peratu re.
❑
With you r foot on the brake, shift throu gh all
the gears while the engine is ru nning.
Fuel syst em

Fill fuel tank with high-qu ality unlead ed fuel
until the first au tom atic shu toff of the fuel
pump nozzle.
NOTE: Durin g exten ded period s of veh icle
storage (60 days or more), fuel may
deteriorate due to oxid ation . This can
damage rubber and oth er polym ers in
the fuel system and may also clog
small orifices.
Ford Gas Stabilizer shou ld be ad ded whenever
actu al or exp ected storage period s exceed 60
days. Follow the instru ctions on the label. The
vehicle shou ld then be operated at idle speed to
circu late the ad ditive throu ghou t the fuel system .
A volatile corrosion inhibitor ad ded to the fuel
system will protect the fuel system ’s inner
surfaces from corrosion. Follow the instru ctions
packaged with the prod uct.
