Fuels can cau se severe eye irritation and possibly
eye dam age. If fuel is splashed in the eyes,
rem ove contact lenses (if worn), flush with large
am ounts of water for 15 minu tes, and seek
medical attention.
If you are taking the medication “Antabu se” or
other form s of disu lfiram for the treatm ent of
alcoholism , vap or or skin contact with a
gasoline-m ethanol blend may cau se the sam e
kind of ad verse reaction as drinking an alcoholic
beverage. In sensitive ind ivid uals, seriou s
personal inju ry or sickness could resu lt. Consu lt
a physician prom ptly if you exp erience an
ad verse reaction.
Fuel line service
Fuel injection system s operate with pressu rized
fuel. The fuel lines are und er pressu re even
when the engine is off. This system shou ld be
serviced by an au thorized dealer using only
Ford ap proved parts. Using other materials may
be hazard ous or allow hyd rocarbon emissions
above the legal levels set by the Federal
Governm ent.
Running Out of Fuel
If you r vehicle ru ns ou t of fuel, try to stop on
level grou nd aw ay from traffic. Ad d at least one
gallon (fou r liters) of fuel to start you r vehicle
again. If you r vehicle is not on level grou nd ,
you may need as much as five gallons (20 liters)
of fuel to start it.
You may need to crank the engine several tim es
before the fuel system starts to pump fuel from
the tank to the engine.
If the engine does not start, check the fuel pump
shu t-off switch and reset as requ ired . See Fuel
pump shut-off switch in the Ind ex.
