Anti-lock Brak e System (ABS)
(If equipped)
If you r vehicle is equ ipped with the anti-lock
brake system (ABS), the wheels will not lock and
slid e when you press dow n hard on the brake
pedal. The ABS au tom atically starts releasing
and reap plying the front brakes ind epend ently
and the rear brakes together whenever you r
vehicle’s wheels start to lock. When this
hap pens, you will feel the brake pedal pulsate.
This is an ind ication that the ABS is working
correctly and is norm al.
If the brake pedal is ap plied while the vehicle is
driven over uneven road surfaces, the ABS may
cycle and the driver may sense a pulsation in
the brake pedal, accom panied by a slight up and
dow n movem ent of the pedal height and a
clicking sou nd . This may also hap pen when
driving on an inclined surface such as a
drivew ay while making a sharp tu rn. This is a
norm al cond ition.
