Precautions When Servicing Your
Vehicle at the begin ning of this chapter.
RWARN ING
The coolin g fan s are autom atic and may
come on at any tim e. Alw ays discon nect
the negative term inal of the battery before
work ing near the fan .
Your vehicle’s coolant protects you r engine from
overheating in the summer and from freezing in
the winter. Check the level of the coolant at least
once a month. Simply look at the engine coolant
reservoir located in the engine com partm ent. To
locate the reservoir, see the diagram of you r
vehicle’s engine und er Engine Type, in this
chap ter.
The coolant ad ditives also protect the entire
cooling system from internal passagew ay
corrosion and these ad ditives lubricate the water
pump. The coolant shou ld be serviced as noted
in the Maintenance Schedule and Record booklet.
