Clean ing the Engin e
A clean engine is more efficient becau se the
engine is able to cool prop erly. A bu ild up of
grease and dirt acts as an insu lator, keep ing the
engine warm er than norm al.

Extrem e care must be used if a pow er washer
is used to clean the engine. The high pressu re
fluid could penetrate sealed parts and
assem blies cau sing dam age or malfu nctions.

In ord er to avoid possible cracking of the
engine block or fuel injection pump, do not
spray a hot engine or injection pump with
cold water.
❑
The alternator, distribu tor and air intake must
be covered . Covering these com ponents will
help prevent water dam age.

Never wash or rinse the engine while it is
ru nning. Water getting into the engine may
cau se internal dam age.
Fillin g the Fuel Tan k

Turn the engine off. After opening the fuel
door, rem ove the cap carefu lly and slow ly
by tu rning it counterclockw ise 1/ 4 tu rn until
it stop s. Pu ll to rem ove the cap . A tether
attaches the cap to the fuel filler pipe.
