RWARN ING
Do not tow a trailer when the tem porary
spare tire is bein g used .
Ten to 15% of the load ed trailer’s weight shou ld
be on the tongu e. How ever, the tongu e load
shou ld never exceed 10% of the maxim um
weight that you r vehicle can safely tow .
Prep arin g to Tow
For you r safety and for the good of you r
vehicle, use the right equ ipment for the typ e of
trailer you tow . Also, make sure that all tow ing
equ ipment is prop erly attached to you r vehicle.
If you are not certain that you are using the
right equ ipment in the prop er manner, see you r
Ford or Lincoln-Mercu ry dealer.
Do not use hitches that clam p onto you r
vehicle’s bu mper. The bu mper is not designed to
bear the load .
