Engin e Coolan t Refill Proced ure
When the entire cooling system is drained and
refilled , the follow ing proced ure shou ld be used
to ensu re a com plete fill:

With the engine OFF and cool, rem ove the
pressu re cap , located on the coolant reservoir.
❑
Ad d a 50/ 50 mixtu re of specified coolant and
water to the coolant reservoir. Refer to Refill
Capacities later in this chap ter for the correct
am ount.
❑
Continu e to fill the reservoir until the coolant
is at the top of the cold fill range.
❑Reinstall the pressu re cap until it clicks.
❑
Start and idle the engine until the rad iator
upper hose is warm (this ind icates the
therm ostat is open and coolant is flow ing
throu gh the entire system ).
❑
Immediately shu t off the engine and let cool.
Cau tiou sly rem ove the pressu re cap and ad d
a 50/ 50 mixtu re of specified coolant and
water until the coolant is within the cold fill
range in the coolant reservoir.
❑
Reinstall the pressu re cap until a click is
heard and felt.
❑Check for leaks at the draincock.
❑
Recheck the engine coolant level, using the
recom mend ed proced ure, after one or tw o
occasions of vehicle use.
