RWARN ING
All occupants of the veh icle, including the
driver, should alw ays wear their safety
belts, even when an air bag Supplem ental
Restrain t System is provid ed.
There are fou r very important reasons to use
safety belts even with an air bag system . Use
you r safety belts to:
❑
help keep you in the prop er position (aw ay
from the air bag) when it inflates
❑
red uce the risk of harm in rollover, sid e or
rear impact collisions, becau se an air bag is
not designed to inflate in such situ ations
❑
red uce the risk of harm in frontal collisions
that are not severe enou gh to activate the
supplem ental air bag
❑
red uce the risk of being throw n from you r
vehicle
The Importan ce of Bein g Prop erly Seated
In a collision, the air bag must inflate extrem ely
fast to help provid e ad ditional protection for
you . In ord er to do this, the air bag must inflate
with consid erable force. If you are not seated in
a norm al rid ing position with you r back against
the seatback, the air bag may not protect you
prop erly and could possibly hu rt you as it
inflates.
