while it is running.
You can tell a colu mn-m ounted gearshift is
secu rely latched in P (Park) if you cannot move
it withou t pulling it tow ard you and rotating it
dow nw ard .
Drivin g with an Autom atic
Overd rive Tran saxle (Colu mn or
Con sole Gearsh ift with O/D OFF
Switch )
Your au tom atic overd rive transaxle provid es
fully au tom atic operation in either D (Overd rive)
or with the O/ D OFF Switch depressed . Driving
with the shift selector in D (Overd rive) gives the
best fuel econom y for norm al driving cond itions.
For manu al control, start in 1 (First) and then
shift manu ally.
Puttin g Your Veh icle in Gear
You must push in the thu mb bu tton to move the
console-m ou nted gearshift to the position you
choose.
To move the gearshift ou t of P (Park), the
ignition must be tu rned from the locked position
to either the OFF or the ON position.
