If the acid tou ches som eone’s skin, eyes, or
clothing, immediately flush the area with water
for at least 15 minu tes. If som eone swallow s the
acid , have him or her drink lots of milk or water
first, then Milk of Magnesia, a beaten egg, or
vegetable oil. Call a doctor immediately.
To avoid dam aging you r vehicle or you r battery,
and to avoid inju ry to you rself, follow these
directions for prep aring you r vehicle to
jump-start and connecting the jumper cables in
the ord er they are given. If in dou bt, call for
road service.
Prep arin g Your Veh icle

Your vehicle has a 12-volt starting system , so
you need to use a 12-volt jumper system .
You will dam age you r starting motor,
ignition system , and other electrical parts if
you connect them to a 24-volt pow er supply
(either tw o 12-volt batteries in series or a
24-volt
generator set).

Do not disconnect the battery of the disabled
vehicle. You could dam age the vehicle’s
electrical system .
Park the booster vehicle close to the hood of
the disabled vehicle. Make sure the veh icles
do not tou ch each oth er. Set the parking
brake on both vehicles and stay clear of the
engine cooling fan and other moving parts.

Check all battery term inals and rem ove any
excessive corrosion before you attach the
jumper cables.
Turn on the heater fan in both vehicles. If
you have electronic climate control, press the
V F-DEF bu tton. Turn off all other switches
and lights.
