OBD II Drive Cycle
The follow ing step s must be ru n in the ord er
show n. If any step s are interru pted , rep eat the
preced ing step . Any safe driving mod e is
accep table betw een step s.
Alw ays drive veh icle in safe manner accord ing
to traffic condition s and obey all traffic law s.
The engine must be warm ed up and at
operating tem peratu re before proceed ing with
the drive mod es of the follow ing OBD II Drive
Cycle.

Start the engine. Drive or idle (in neu tral)
the vehicle for 4 minu tes.
2.

Idle the vehicle in drive for 40 second s.
Accelerate the vehicle to 45 mph (70 km / h)
at 1/ 4 to 1/ 2 throttle for 10 second s.

Drive the vehicle with a stead y throttle at
45
mph (70 km / h) for 30 second s.

Idle the vehicle in drive for 40 second s.
Continu e to drive the vehicle in city traffic at
speed s betw een 25 and 40 mph
(40-60
km / h) for 15 minu tes. Du ring the 15
minu te drive cycle the follow ing mod es must
be achieved :
a. at least 5 stop and idle mod es at 10
second s each
b. acceleration from idles at 1/ 4 to 1/ 2
throttle position, and
c. choose 3 different speed s to do 1.5
minu te stead y state throttle drives.
