UNDERSTANDING THE FEATURES OF YOUR VEHICLE
To prevent possible damage, do not slam the hood to
close it. Lower the hood until it is open approxim ately 12
in (30 cm) and then drop it. This shou ld secure both
latches. Never drive you r vehicle unless the hood is fully
closed , with both latches engaged .
HOOD SAFETY SWITCH — IF EQUIPPED
If the vehicle is equ ipped with the Electronic Vehicle
Inform ation Center (EVIC), and the hood is not latched ,
the EVIC will display “Hood Ajar” in the instru ment
cluster EVIC display wind ow.
If the vehicle is equ ipped with the Com pass Mini-Trip
Com puter (CMTC) and the hood is not latched , a “hood ”
will be displayed in the PRNDL/ Odometer wind ow of
the instru ment cluster.
WARN ING!
If the hood is not fully latch ed, it could fly up when
the veh icle is movin g and block you r forw ard vision .
You could have a collision . Be sure all hood latch es
are fully latch ed before drivin g.
