the AIRBAG warning light will turn off. If the ORC
detects a malfunction in any part of the system , it turns
on the AIRBAG warning light, either momentarily or
continu ously. A single chim e will sou nd if the light comes
on again after initial start up.
Fron t and Sid e Impact Sen sors
Impact Sensors trigger airbag deploym ent in front and
side impacts, and aid the ORC in determ ining approp ri-
ate resp onse to impact events. Additional sensors in the 2
ORC determ ine the level of airbag deploym ent and
provid e verification.
It also inclu des diagnostics that will illuminate the instru -
ment cluster AIRBAG warning light if a malfunction is
noted . The diagnostics also record the natu re of the
malfunction.
Acceleration Sen sors
Acceleration Sensors trigger airbag deploym ent based on
dram atic acceleration change of the vehicle.
Pressu re Sen sors
Pressu re Sensors trigger airbag deploym ent based on
door cavity pressu re changes.
WARN ING!
Ign orin g the AIRBAG ligh t in you r instru ment panel
could mean you won’t have the airb ags to protect you
in a collision . If the ligh t does not come on, stays on
after you start the veh icle, or if it comes on as you
drive, have the airb ag system checked righ t away.
Rollover Sen sors
Rollover Sensors trigger airbag deploym ent in the event
of vehicle rollover and aid the ORC in deploying Side
Airbag Inflatable Curtains (SABIC) for rollover events.
