Towing Req uirem ents — Trailer Ligh ts and Wirin g
Whenever you pull a trailer, regard less of the trailer size,
stop lights and turn signals on the trailer are requ ired for
motoring safety.
CAUTIO N!
If the trailer weigh s more than 1,000 lbs (454 kg)
load ed, it should have its own brak es and they
should be of adequate capacity. Failu re to do this
could lead to accelerated brak e lin ing wear, high er
brak e pedal effort, and lon ger stop ping distan ces.
The Trailer Tow Package may inclu de a four-pin or a
seven-p in wiring harness. Use a factory approved trailer
harness and connector.
NOTE: Do not cut or splice wiring into the vehicles
wiring harness.
WARN ING!
Do not connect trailer brak es to you r veh icle’s hy-
drau lic brak e lin es. It can overload you r brak e sys-
tem and cause it to fail. You migh t not have brak es
when you need them and could have an accid ent.
The electrical connections are all complete to the vehicle
but you must mate the harness to a trailer connector.
Refer to the follow ing four-pin connector and seven-p in
connector illustrations.
Towing any trailer will increase you r stop ping dis-
tan ce. When tow ing you should allow for addition al
space betw een you r veh icle and the veh icle in fron t
of you . Failu re to do so could resu lt in an accid ent.
