UNDERSTANDING YOUR INSTRUMENT PANEL

release the Trip / Odometer Disp lay reset button on the
instru ment cluster. To reset the oil change ind icator
system (after perform ing the sched uled maintenance)
refer to the follow ing proced ure.
Refer to” Com pass Mini-Trip Com puter (CMTC) — If
Equipped”, later in this section for more inform ation.
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (Do not
start the engine).

Fully depress the accelerator pedal slow ly three times
Your vehicle is equ ipped with an engine oil change
ind icator system . The CHAngE OIL message will flash in
the instru ment cluster odometer for approxim ately 12
second s after a single chim e has sou nd ed to ind icate the
next sched uled oil change interval. The engine oil change
ind icator system is duty cycle-based , which means the
engine oil change interval may fluctuate depend ent upon
you r personal driving style.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF/ LOCK position.
NOTE: If the ind icator message illuminates when you
start the vehicle, the oil change ind icator system did not
reset. If necessary rep eat this proced ure.
25. Odomet er
The odometer show s the total distance the vehicle has
been driven.
Unless reset, this message will continu e to display each
time you turn the ignition switch to the ON/ RUN
position. To turn off the message tem porarily, press and
