Reset Mode - Electronic Transmission
5. Shift into the desired gear range and resu me driving.
The transm ission is monitored electronically for abnor-
mal cond itions. If a cond ition is detected that could cause
damage, the transm ission autom atically shifts into 2nd
gear (3rd gear for six-sp eed ). The transm ission rem ains in
2nd gear (3rd gear for six-sp eed ) despite the forw ard gear
selected . PARK, REVERSE, and NEUTRAL will continu e
to operate. This Reset featu re allow s the vehicle to be
driven to an authorized dealer for service withou t dam-
aging the transm ission.
NOTE: Even if the transm ission can be reset, it is
recom mend ed that you visit an authorized dealer at you r
earliest possible convenience. Your authorized dealer has
diagnostic equ ipment to determ ine if the problem could
recu r.
If the transm ission cannot be reset, authorized dealer
service is requ ired .

PARKING BRAKE
In the event of a momentary problem , the transm ission
can be reset to regain all forw ard gears by perform ing the
follow ing step s:
When the parking brake is applied with the ignition
switch ON, the brake light in the instru ment cluster will
turn on.

Stop the vehicle.
NOTE: This light only show s that the parking brake is
applied. It does not show the degree of brake application.
Shift into PARK.
Before leaving the vehicle, make sure that the parking
brake is fully applied by depressing the pedal located at
the bottom left of the instru ment panel and place the gear
Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Restart the engine.
