EMISSIONS CONTROL SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
The Sched uled Maintenance services listed in bold typ e,
must be done at the times or mileages specified to ensu re
the continu ed prop er functioning of the Emissions Con-
trol System . These, and all other maintenance services
inclu ded in this manu al, shou ld be done to provid e best
vehicle perform ance and reliability. More frequ ent main-
tenance may be need ed for vehicles in severe operating
cond itions, such as dusty areas and very short trip
driving.

The oil change ind icator system will rem ind you that it is
time to take you r vehicle in for sched uled maintenance.

On Non-EVIC equ ipped vehicles CHAngE OIL will flash
in the instru ment cluster odometer and a single chim e
will sou nd , ind icating that an oil change is necessary.

played in the EVIC and a single chim e will sou nd ,
ind icating that an oil change is necessary.
Insp ection and service shou ld also be done anytim e a
malfunction is suspected .
Based on engine operation cond itions the oil change
ind icator message will illuminate, this means that service
is requ ired for you r vehicle. Have you r vehicle serviced
as soon as possible, within the next 500 mi (805 km).
NOTE: Maintenance, rep lacem ent, or rep air of the emis-
sions control devices and system s on you r vehicle may be
perform ed by any autom otive rep air establishm ent or
ind ivid ual using any autom otive part that has been
certified pursu ant to U.S. EPA or in the State of Califor-
nia, California Air Resou rces Board regu lations.
