The ORC deploys the SABIC during collision with other
vehicles and during collisions where the impact is con-
fined to a particu lar area of the vehicle — such as
collisions with poles, trees or similar objects.

If A Deploym ent Occurs
The airbag system s are designed to deploy when the
Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) detect a moderate-
to-severe collision, to help restrain the driver, front
passenger and rear passengers, and then immediately
deflate.
It will deploy the SABIC only on the impact side of the
vehicle.
NOTE: The ORC does detect and protect for rollover
when equ ipped with SABIC airbags.
Enhanced Accid ent Resp onse System
NOTE: A frontal collision that is not severe enou gh to
need airbag protection will not activate the system . This
does not mean som ething is wrong with the airbag
system .
In the event of an impact causing airbag deploym ent, and
the vehicle communication netw ork intact, and the
power intact, the Enhanced Accident Response System
perform s the follow ing functions:
