BRAKE SYSTEM
WARN ING!
Your vehicle is equ ipped with dual hyd rau lic
brake system s. If either of the two hyd rau lic
system s loses norm al capability, the rem aining
NEVER leave child ren alon e in a veh icle. Leavin g
unatten ded child ren in a veh icle is dangerou s for a
number of reason s. A child or oth ers could be seri-
ously or fatally injured . Don’t leave the key in the
ign ition . A child could operate power windows,
oth er controls, or move the veh icle
system will still function. However, there will
be som e loss of overall braking effectiveness. This will be
evid ent by increased pedal travel during application and
greater pedal force requ ired to slow or stop the vehicle. In
addition, if the malfunction is caused by a leak in the 5
hyd rau lic system , the brake warning ind icator will turn
on as the brake fluid level drop s in the master cylind er.
When parking on a hill, turn the front wheels tow ard the
curb on a downhill grad e, and away from the curb on an
uphill grad e.
In the event power assist is lost for any reason (for
exam ple, rep eated brake applications with the engine
off), the brakes will still function. The effort requ ired to
brake the vehicle will be much greater than that requ ired
with the power system operating.
The parking brake shou ld alw ays be applied whenever
the driver is not in the vehicle.
