MAINTAINING YOUR VEHICLE
Fluid  Level  Check  — 3.3L Engin  e with  Four-Sp eed
Autom atic  Transaxle  — If  Equipped
The  dipstick   is  located  just  behind   the  rad iator,  lower
right  side.
4.  Place the  gear selector  lever  momentarily   in each  gear
position   end ing with  the  lever  in  PARK. Wipe  the  area
arou nd  the dipstick   clean  to eliminate   the  possibility   of
dirt  entering  the  transaxle.

Remove  the  dipstick  and  determ ine  if the  fluid  is hot
or warm . Hot  fluid  is approxim ately  180°F (82°C), which
is the norm al  operating  tem peratu re after  the  vehicle has
been driven   at least 15 miles  (24 km). The fluid  cannot  be
comfortably   held  betw een the  finger  tips.  Cold  is  when
the  fluid  is below  80°F (27°C).
To prop erly check  the autom  atic transaxle  fluid  level, the
follow ing proced ure  must  be  used :

Wipe  the   dipstick   clean   and   reinsert   until   seated .
Remove  dipstick  and  note  read ing.

The vehicle  must  be  on level  grou nd .
a.  If  the  fluid  is  hot,   the  read ing  shou ld  be  in   the
crosshatched   area  marked  “HOT”  (betw een the  upper
two  holes  in the  dipstick).

The engine  shou ld  be running  at  curb idle  speed  for a
minim um  of 60 second s.
3.
Fully  apply  parking  brake.
b.  If the fluid  is cold, the fluid  level shou ld  be betw een
the  lower  two holes  in  the area  marked   “COLD”.
