Do not change the therm ostat for summer or winter
operation. If rep lacem ent is ever necessary, install
ONLY the correct typ e therm ostat. Other designs may
resu lt in unsatisfactory coolant perform ance, poor gas
mileage, and increased emissions.
Insp ect all hose connections such as clamps and cou-
plings to make sure they are secure and no leaks are
present.
Com ponents shou ld be rep laced immediately if there is
any evid ence of wear or damage that could cause failu re.
HOSES AND VACUUM/VAPOR HARNESSES
Insp ect surfaces of hoses and nylon tubing for evid ence
of heat and mechanical damage. Hard or soft spots,
brittle rubber, cracking, tears, cuts, abrasions, and exces-
sive swelling ind icate deterioration of the rubber.
FUEL SYSTEM CONNECTIONS
The Electronic Fuel Injection high-p ressu re fuel system ’s
hoses and quick connect fittings have uniqu e material
characteristics that provid e adequ ate sealing and resist
attack by deteriorated gasoline.
Pay particu lar attention to those hoses nearest to high
heat sou rces such as the exhau st manifold . Insp ect hose
rou ting to be sure hoses do not come in contact with any
heat sou rce or moving component which may cause heat
damage or mechanical wear.
You are urged to use only the manu factu re specified
hoses with quick connect fittings, or their equ ivalent in
material and specification, in any fuel system servicing. It
is mand atory to rep lace any damaged hoses or quick
connect fittings that have been rem oved during service.
Care shou ld be taken in installing quick connect fittings
to ensu re they are prop erly installed and fully connected .
