ENGINE OIL
The pages that follow contain the req uired maintenance
services determ ined by the engineers who designed you r
vehicle.
Checking Oil Level
To assu re prop er engine lubrication, the engine oil must
be maintained at the correct level. Check the oil level at
regu lar intervals, such as every fuel stop .
Besides the maintenance item s for which there are fixed
maintenance intervals, there are other item s that shou ld
operate satisfactorily withou t period ic maintenance.
However, if a malfunction of these item s does occur, it
could adversely affect the engine or vehicle perform ance.
These item s shou ld be insp ected if a malfunction is
observed or suspected .
The best time to check the engine oil level is abou t five
minu tes after a fully warm ed engine is shu t off or before
starting the engine after it has sat overnight.
Checking the oil while the vehicle is on level grou nd will
improve the accuracy of the oil level read ings. Maintain
the oil level betw een the MIN and MAX markings on the
dipstick. Adding one quart of oil when the read ing is at 7
the MIN mark will resu lt in a MAX read ing on these
engines.
