DRIVE SHAFT UNIVERSAL JOINTS
lubricating excess oil and grease shou ld be rem oved .
Particu lar attention shou ld also be given to hood latching
components to ensu re prop er function. When perform ing
other und erhood services, the hood latch, release mecha-
nism and safety catch shou ld be cleaned and lubricated .
Your vehicle has constant velocity universal joints. Peri-
odic lubrication of these joints is not requ ired . However,
the joint boots shou ld be insp ected for external leakage or
damage when other maintenance is perform ed. If leakage
or damage is evid ent, the universal joint boot and grease
shou ld be rep laced immediately.
The external lock cylind ers shou ld be lubricated twice a
year, preferably in the Fall and Spring. Apply a small
amount of a high quality lubricant such as Mop ar Lock
Cylind er Lubricant directly into the lock cylind er.
Continu ed operation could resu lt in failu re of the univer-
sal joint due to water and dirt contam ination of the
grease. This would requ ire complete rep lacem ent of the
joint assem bly.
WINDSHIELD WIPER BLADES
The rubber edges of the wiper blad es and the wind shield
shou ld be cleaned period ically with a sponge or soft cloth
and a mild nonabrasive cleaner. This will rem ove accu-
mulations of salt or road film.
BODY LUBRICATION
Locks and all bod y pivot points, inclu ding such item s as
seat tracks, doors, liftgate, sliding doors and hood hinges,
shou ld be lubricated period ically to assu re quiet, easy
operation and to protect against rust and wear. Prior to
the application of any lubricant, the parts concerned
shou ld be wiped clean to rem ove dust and grit; after
Operation of the wipers on dry glass for long period s
may cause deterioration of the wiper blad es. Alw ays use
washer fluid when using the wipers to rem ove salt or dirt
from a dry wind shield .
