Combination Lap and Shoulder Belts
While you r vehicle is in motion, the com bination lap and
shou lder belt ad justs to you r movem ent. How ever, if you brake
hard , tu rn hard , or if you r vehicle receives an impact of 5 mph
(8
km / h) or more, the lap / shou lder belt locks and help s red uce
you r forw ard movem ent.
After you get into you r vehicle, close the door and lock it. Then
ad just the seat to the position that suits you best.
Pu ll the com bination lap / shou lder belt from the retractor so
that the shou lder portion of the belt crosses you r shou lder and
chest. Be sure the belt is not tw isted . If it is, rem ove the tw ist.
Insert the belt tongu e into the prop er bu ckle until you hear a
snap and feel it latch. Make sure the tongu e is secu rely fastened
to the bu ckle by pulling on tongu e.
