Attaching Safety Seats With Tether Straps
General Instructions
Some manu factu rers make safety seats that inclu de a tether
strap that goes over the back of the vehicle seat and attaches to
an anchoring point. Other manu factu rers offer the tether strap
as an accessory. Contact the manu factu rer of you r child safety
seat for inform ation abou t ord ering a tether strap .
You can attach a tether strap anchor bracket to the rear floor by
using a tether anchor kit (613D74), available at no charge from
any Ford dealership .
Read and follow the instru ctions provid ed with the kit carefu lly,
for installation of the child tether strap anchor.
Follow the child seat manu factu rer’s instru ctions to attach the
tether strap to the tether bracket.
Ford recom mend s placem ent of tethered safety seats in a rear
seating position with the tether strap installed to the tether
anchoring point as show n in the instru ctions provid ed with the
child tether strap anchor kit.
RWARN ING
Only use the teth er attach ment hole location s shown in
the illu stration s. The teth er anchor may not perform
prop erly if the wron g mountin g location is used .
The rear lap / shou lder safety belts shou ld not be used to secu re
the tether strap of a safety seat located in the front seat.
