Check the coolant level in the coolant recovery reservoir the
next few tim es you drive the vehicle. If necessary, ad d enou gh
of a 50/ 50 mixtu re of coolant and water to bring the liqu id
level to the fill line on the reservoir.
RWARN ING
Never rem ove the coolan t recovery cap while the engin e
is running or hot.
If you must rem ove the coolant recovery cap , follow these step s
to avoid personal inju ry cau sed by escap ing steam or engine
coolant:
1.
Before you rem ove the cap , tu rn the engine off and let it
cool.

When the engine is cool, wrap a thick cloth arou nd the cap
and tu rn it slow ly, cou nterclockw ise to the first stop .

Step back while the pressu re releases.
When you are sure that all the pressu re has been released ,
use the cloth to press the cap dow n, tu rn it counterclockw ise,
and rem ove it.
Use Ford Prem ium Engine Coolant E2FZ-19549-AA (in Canad a,
Motorcraft CXC-8-B) or an equ ivalent prem ium engine coolant
that meets Ford specification ESE-M97B44-A. Ford Prem ium
Engine Coolant is an optim ized form ula that will protect all
metals and ru bber elastom ers used in Ford cooling system s for 4
years or 50,000 miles (80,000 km ).
Do not use alcohol or methanol antifreeze or any engine
coolants mixed with alcohol or methanol antifreeze. Do not use
supplem ental coolant ad ditives in you r vehicle. These ad ditives
may harm you r engine cooling system . The use of an improp er
coolant may void the warranty of you r vehicle’s engine cooling
system .
