Ignition
Understanding the Positions of the Ignition
The posit ions of the key in the ignit ion lock cylinder.
ACCESSORY allow s som e of you r vehicle’s electrical accessories
such as the rad io and the wind shield wipers to operate while
the engine is not ru nning.
In ord er to tu rn the key from the ON or OFF position to the
ACCESSORY position, you must push the key release bu tton if
you r vehicle’s manu al transm ission gearshift is mounted on the
floor.
LOCK locks the steering wheel and gearshift lever.
RWARN ING
Turn the key to LOCK whenever you leave you r veh icle.
Alw ays set the park ing brak e fully and make sure that
the gearsh ift is secu rely latch ed in P (Park ) (autom atic
tran smission ) or in 1 (First) (manual tran smission ). Never
leave you r veh icle unatten ded while it is running.
LOCK is the only position that allow s you to rem ove the key.
The LOCK featu re help s to protect you r vehicle from theft.
If you r key is stu ck in the LOCK position and will not tu rn,
move you r steering wheel left or right until the key tu rns freely.
