A problem with the system is ind icated by one or more of the
follow ing:

the read iness light will either flash or stay lit,
or it will not light immediately after ignition is tu rned on,
or a grou p of five beep s will be heard . The tone pattern will
rep eat period ically until the problem and light are rep aired .
If any of these things hap pen, have the air bag system serviced
at you r Ford or Lincoln-Mercu ry dealer immediately. Unless
serviced , the air bag supplem ental restraint system may not
function prop erly in the event of a collision.

Supplem ental Restrain t System or its fuses. See you r

Disposal of supplemental air bag equipped vehicles
For disposal of air bags or air bag equ ipped vehicles, see you r
local Ford or Lincoln-Mercu ry dealer. Air bags MUST be
disposed of by qu alified personnel.
Safety Restraints for Children
In the U.S. and Canad a, you are requ ired by law to use safety
restraints for child ren. If small child ren rid e in you r vehicle —
this generally inclu des child ren who are four years old or
you nger and who weigh 40 pound s (18 kg) or less — you must
put them in safety seats that are mad e specially for child ren.
Safety belts alone do not provid e maxim um protection for these
child ren. Check you r local and state law s for specific
requ irem ents.
