1996 Ford Explorer Owners Manual

To  fold  dow n  the  rear   split  seat:
1.
Pu sh the   low er release   hand le  (located   on  sid e of  seat)
dow nw ard  to  unlatch   the  seat   back  latch.
2.
Rotate  the   seat  dow nw ard  into   the  latched   load  floor
position.
NOTE:   When   you  hear  a “click ”  typ e sou nd,  this  ensures   the
seatb ack  will  be  in  the  latch ed  load  floor  position  .
Folding  rear  seat  (four  door  model)
To  retu rn  the  seat  to  the  upright,    locked   seating  position:

Pu sh dow  nw ard  on  the  upper   outboard    corner   of the
seatback   and  hold .
Lift  the  low er  release  hand le  upward    to  unlatch   the  seat
back  latch.
Rotate  seat   upward   until   seat  back  latches   in  the  upright
position.
