Backing up
To shift into R (Reverse):

Pu sh the clutch pedal in all the way to the floor and hold it.
If you do not hold the clutch pedal in all the way, you may
hear a grind ing noise when you shift.
Bring you r vehicle to a com plete stop . Failu re to do so may
cau se synchronizer teeth dam age, red ucing the usefu l life of
you r transm ission.
Pu t the gearshift in Neutral and wait at least 3 second s
before shifting into R (Reverse) to prevent a grind ing noise.
Do not release the clutch.
Pu sh the gearshift all the way to the right and pull it back
into Reverse.
With the 5-speed transm ission you can engage R (Reverse) only
by moving the gearshift from the left of 3 (Third ) and 4 (Fou rth)
gears before you shift into R (Reverse). This is a special lockou t
featu re that protects you from accid entally shifting into R when
you dow nshift from 5 (Fifth) gear.

Once R (Reverse) is engaged , slow ly release the clutch pedal
from the floor.
If R (Reverse) is not engaged , continu e to push the clutch pedal
in while you put the gearshift back into Neutral. Then, release
the clutch pedal for a mom ent and rep eat step s 2 throu gh 5.
Upshifting/downshifting
Up shift and dow nshift at the speed s that are specfied in the
charts.
