Transmission cont rol switch (loca ted on the end of the gearshift lever)
To retu rn the transm ission to the norm al j Overd rive
operation, press the transm ission control switch again. The
Transm ission Control Ind icator Light will not be illuminated
when Overd rive operation resu mes. This switch may be used to
select O/ D ON or O/ D OFF any tim e the vehicle is being
driven.
When starting you r vehicle, the overd rive system will
au tom atically be in the norm al overd rive mod e.
When to use 2 (Second)
Use 2 (Second ) to start-u p on slip pery road s or to provid e
ad ditional engine braking on dow ngrad es. This position
provid es 2 (Second ) gear operation only.
When to use 1 (Low)
Use 1 (Low ) to provid e maxim um engine braking on steep
dow ngrad es. Up shifts from 1 (Low ) can be mad e by manu ally
shifting to 2 (Second ) or j (Overd rive). Selection of 1 (Low )
gear provid es only low gear operation from start-u p. Selection
of 1 (Low ) while at higher speed s provid es a shift to second
gear, and a shift to first gear will occu r after the vehicle
decelerates to the prop er speed .
