When you slow dow n or climb a steep hill, alw ays dow nshift
before the engine starts to lose pow er. Dow nshifting red uces the
chance of stalling and gives you r vehicle better acceleration to
increase speed again.
When you drive dow n steep hills, dow nshifting help s you keep
a safe speed and help s prevent unnecessary wear on the brakes.
When you com e to a stop , do not dow nshift throu gh each gear.
Disengage the clutch and use the brake as necessary.
Dow nshifting throu gh the gears decreases you r vehicle’s fuel
econom y.
RWARN ING
Con tin ued use of a damaged or worn clutch, prolon ged
clutch slip page or downshiftin g at excessive speed s can
resu lt in a failu re of the engin e, tran smission or clutch
components.
Transmission Function
Up shift at the speed s specified in the chart. All forw ard gears
are synchronized allow ing you to shift into them with you r
vehicle in motion. The clutch pedal shou ld be fully depressed
when shifting.
NOTE: Shiftin g durin g extrem ely low rpm’s can resu lt in a
momentary audible rattle which disap pears as veh icle
rpm’s are increased . Shiftin g at high er speed s will
elim inate this sou nd.
Parking
To park you r vehicle, ap ply the service brake pedal, and shift
into N (Neutral) while still maintaining pressu re on the service
brake. Set the parking brake fully. Shift into first and tu rn off
the ignition.
